For any fan of John Lennon, this is a treasure and a must-have. Plastic Ono Band is one of the best and most influential albums ever. One of the few non-commercial work to not only endure and gain acclaim but even earn notable popularity, it is essential for serious listeners. Few albums have more brazenly defied expectations.
RexandStarla4Ever. •. I think the common preference on this sub is for Plastic Ono Band. For me, though, I prefer the Imagine album. It was the first John solo album that I completely loved 100%. While it isn't as raw of an album in the Plastic Ono sense, I feel that Imagine is an equally deep, sincere, and open album.
John Lennon’s first solo album was far from being his first work outside of the Beatles. To widespread bewilderment, he and Yoko Ono had already released three avant-garde recordings ( Two Virgins, Life With The Lions and Wedding Album). And with the Plastic Ono Band the couple had made the in-concert rock album Live Peace In Toronto 1969.
