Ian is a bassist/multi-instrumentalist based in the metro NY area. He holds a Bachelor Of Music from Berklee College of Music, and has been privileged to work with some of the finest musicians in New York and New Jersey on stages ranging from original music halls in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side, to off-Broadway pits, to private events all over the east coast.

Notes to editors District Judge Underwood (67) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1978. He was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 1993, a Recorder in 2008 and a District Judge in 2011.

Ian's "story" of meeting and joining Zappa is chronicled in the track 'Ian Underwood Whips It Out' on the "Uncle Meat" release. Ian recorded and performed with Zappa’s Mothers of Invention and subsequent Zappa bands from 1967-1973 and has performed on many of Zappa’s albums, including We're Only in it for the Money, Uncle Meat, Hot Rats, Burnt Weeny Sandwich and the movie 200 Motels.
