The album was the band's major label debut after releasing their previous albums through the independent label Boner Records . The album features a cover of the 1974 Kiss song "Goin' Blind".

  5. Kurt Cobain produced tracks 1, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13 along with Melvins. He played on "Sky Pup" and the percussion-only "Spread Eagle Beagle". The entire album was recorded live and released as A Live History of Gluttony and Lust in 2006.
