Modern medical education in Hong Kong started with the founding of the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese (Chinese: 香港華人西醫書院) in 1887. Currently, six institutes of higher education are engaged in the training of medical practitioners in Hong Kong.
ABOUT. 135. Founded as the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese in 1887 with just a handful of students, The University of Hong Kong’s LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) now stands in the top 20 medical schools globally.
Through offering a combination of undergraduate courses in Chinese Medicine (75%) and the latest Biomedical Sciences (25%), the School of Chinese Medicine, the Unviersity of Hong Kong (HKUSCM) nurtures future professionals that are proficient with both Chinese Medicine (CM) and modern medical sciences.
The first two graduates of the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, Sun Yat-sen and Kong Ying-wah, are granted the qualified diploma of medicine . 1911. The University of Hong Kong is formally opened and the Hong Kong College of Medicine is incorporated within HKU as the first faculty . 2021.
He graduated from Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese in 1900. He moved to Singapore in 1900 and practiced Western medicine there, while participating in the Chinese Revolution with Dr. Sun Yat-Sen as one of the key members of the Nanyang Branch of Tongmenghui (中国同盟会南洋分会).

BChinMed 2022. Classical Chinese Medicine Supplemented with Biomedical Sciences. The programme offers comprehensive and systematic Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Sciences courses taught by teachers from the School of Chinese Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Clinical Medicine and School of Public Health under the Medical Faculty.
