The Fairfield Four is an American gospel group that has existed for over 100 years, starting as a trio in the Fairfield Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1921. They were designated as National Heritage Fellows in 1989 by the National Endowment for the Arts , which is the United States government's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.

Founded in 1921 in Nashville, TN the Fairfield Four have maintained their authenticity by carrying on traditional stylings exemplified by the Bessemer Sunset Four, the Birmingham Jubilee Singers, and the Famous Blue Jay Singers with Silas Steele.
Bio. The Fairfield Four was first organized as an a cappella gospel trio of young African American men in the Sunday school of the Fairfield Baptist Church in Nashville in the early 1920s. By 1991, NBB was in the studio often. They recorded a project with Peter Rowan in February, and recorded Home Of The Blues, featuring The Fairfield Four and Jerry Douglas later that year. Jerry produced the album which featured great songs from The Delmore Brothers, Jimmie Rodgers, Bill Monroe, and Johnny Cash.
