Holy Family Convent is a national school in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. [1] [2] The school was established in 1845 and consists of both a Tamil and an English convent. History. The school was first managed by an Irish lady called Mrs. Flannagan with the aim of providing English education to the girls in Jaffna.

1864 – Foundation for Holy Family Convent was laid by Bishop Semeria on May 24 th 1864. Two teachers and students were affected by cholera. 1868 – Death of Bishop Etienne Semeria was in Marseills, France. 1869 – Inauguration of the new Convent in Jaffna in Nov. 1869. 1870 – Holy Family Convent School was moved to the new building.
