This is the original Mono release featuring the black label with Parlophone in yellow. Both this and Volume 2 were conceived in early 1966, The mono masters of both volumes were fold-downs of the stereo tapes, with only She Loves You and I’ll Get You appearing in true mono, due to the unavailability of stereo mixes at the time of compilation.
I picked up both vol 1 and 2 at Wal-Mart out of curiosity due to how cheap they are 15.99 Canadian. At that price you can get both for less than a copy of the official hits one or two. The records have no inner sleeves but are on a thick vinyl. I believe they are mono but they sound great.
