This was one of my favourite concerts of the year so far: the Scottish premiere of a new choral work by Richard Blackford, ‘ Pietà’, a setting of the Stabat Mater with the addition of two poems by the Ukrainian poet, Anna Akhmatova, and a stunning performance of Mozart’s fabulous Requiem.

15 de abr. de 2024 · I posted to another thread about the work of Jan Garbarek & The Hilliard Ensemble, and it got me thinking; I cannot think of many other recordings or artists that combine such diverse music genres, in this case Gregorian Chant and improvised Jazz.
15 de abr. de 2024 · If you want something different, and some saxophone playing that I find quite haunting, then listen to some of Jan Garbarek and his recordings with The Hilliard Ensemble. They did several CDs together, and I had the amazing experience of seeing them live once.
