Hilary Putnam (Chicago, Illinois, 1926. július 31. – Arlington, Massachusetts, 2016. március 13.) amerikai analitikus filozófus, a Harvard egyetem tanára, az agyak a tartályban elmélet és a belső realizmus megalkotója. Hilary Putnam was born on July 31st 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Samuel Putnam, best known for his landmark translation of Don Quixote (1949), and Riva Lillian Sampson. In 1927, when he was six months old, the family moved to Paris, where his father translated the works of Rabelais and edited the literary magazine The New Review.
