Hilary James Wedgwood Benn (born 26 November 1953) is a British Labour Party politician who has served as Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland since 2023. A member of the Labour Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds Central since the 1999 by-election.

Hilary is the Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons. He served as a Minister in the Home Office, International Development and DEFRA in the last Labour Government. He was also the co-convenor of the UK Trade and Business Commission and the co-author of the Benn Act, which obliged the Prime Minister to seek a third extension to EU membership.
