27 de oct. de 2013 · It is not correct to say that your suitcase is twice heavier than mine, unless you mean that it is three times as heavy. Some people get a bit lax and informally use "ten times easier than" to mean "ten times as easy as", but often in such cases it doesn't matter because easiness is not something that lends itself to precise measurement.

Flooding (flood is pronounced "flud"; rhymes with "mud") is the activity that takes place when there is a tsunami, or a river overflows its banks, or a pipe breaks and water flows where it should not be—onto the shore, into the streets, or all over your floor.

10 de sept. de 2008 · As far as treating "rain" as a plural noun, I think it's possible but only in some limited circumstances. One can say "We had a heavy rain last week, and we had two others last month." Therefore, "We have had several heavy rains recently. These rains were a great help in relieving the drought that had been so much trouble for the farmers."
6 de may. de 2007 · Heavy is just an alternative. The question asked if traffic can be crowded. Yes it can be heavy too, but there is no single word above all others to describe crowded traffic. You might also use, heaving or crawling to describe heavy, crowded, or congested traffic.
