The Family Story starts in the 60’s in Leicester where John “Charlie” Whitney (24.6.44) and Jim King met at college and decided to form the band Jim King & The Farinas, together with drummer Harry Ovenall and bassist Tim Kirchin. This was standard beat music, although King was out of the ordinary using his sax and flutes.
