Greg Van Cook was an original member of the New York Backstreet Boys of Max’s Kansas City, who became The Electric Chairs. He co-authored the punk anthem, "Fuck Off" with Jayne County . The lineup was completed by the addition of Fiona Barry on the piano and Susy Hogarth on drums .

16 de ago. de 2020 · Some musicians in better-known bands also had involvement within the ‘hidden punk’ sector. Greg Van Cook, guitarist with The Innocents was also in the Electric Chairs with Jayne County, but also was in Front and The Vibrators at the same time as being one of The Innocents.
Upon moving to London with Greg Van Cook, a member of the Backstreet Boys, she recruited a new drummer and bassist to form "The Electric Chairs"; a band comprising Van Cook (guitar), Val Haller (bass) and Chris Dust (drums). Jools Holland had his first studio session with the group in 1976.

Greg Van Cook left the band after the self-titled debut album (1978) to be replaced by Henri Padovani. Follow-up recordings included an EP called Blatantly Offensive (1978), and albums Storm the Gates of Heaven (1978) and Things Your Mother Never Told You (1979).
