In 2015, Rolling Stone ranked him at number 58 in its list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". Green's tone on the instrumental "The Super-Natural" was rated as one of the 50 greatest of all time by Guitar Player in 2004.
To label this compilation 'The best of Peter Green' isn't so much a misnomer as a travesty. This is definitely a re-released set of recordings for completists only. For those of us who grew to love early Peter Green playing during the days when BB King rated him the greatest British blues player, this collection is little more than the palest of sonic shadows compared to his greatest work.
