Mirabella states that she was chosen to change Vogue because "women weren't interested in reading about or buying clothes that served no purpose in their changing lives."
Grace Mirabella. Self: The Dick Cavett Show. Graduate of Skidmore College, June 1950; majored in economics. Hired as an assistant at Vogue magazine in 1952, and rose to become editor-in-chief in 1971. Dismissed from Vogue by publisher Conde Nast in 1988, she created Mirabella magazine, which was published from June 1989 to April 2000.
