Am 06.10.2019 verstarb Ginger Baker im Alter von 80 Jahren, Grund meine Alben von Ginger Baker’s Airforce wieder anzuhören. Es sind genau ein Doppelalbum in Vinyl und eine DCD. Das Exemplar in Vinyl nennt sich „Once Upon A Time“ und erschien nach 1972, das genaue Jahr ist nicht vermerkt, nur in Deutschland.Es ist identisch mit der Pop History Vol. 18.

15 de feb. de 2021 · In many ways, Ginger Baker’s Air Force is the clearest expression of Baker’s clouded muse, mixing rock, jazz and African music in a combustible live setting that covers its sins with showmanship. Given how much Baker was able to achieve in a trio setting, a ten-piece band might seem like overkill. And, of course, it is.

Ginger Baker's Air Force ist etwas für die gute alte Garde der Fans der Musik der 70er-Jahre. Leider wurde dieses Konzert tonqualitätsmässig sehr schlecht aufgenommen. Es kommt alles ganz dumpf herüber und vereint sich in einem Brei von Instrumenten und Gesang. Schade: aber Fans müssen die Scheibe unbedingt haben.
