Gil Saunders (1952 – February 4, 2021) was an American soul singer who came to fame as lead singer with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.
4 de feb. de 2021 · (February 4, 2021) Tonight we say a sad goodbye to talented singer Gil Saunders, best known as the decade-long lead singer of the legendary act Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. Saunders died today after long battles with M.S. and, more recently, lung cancer.
Several of the Pendergrass-era hits were re-recorded in the UK with Gil Saunders on lead. Saunders left the act in 1992, and Harold Melvin continued to tour with various line-ups of Blue Notes, until suffering a stroke in 1996. Melvin died on March 24, 1997, at the age of 57 and was laid to rest at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia.

Gil Saunders (born 1952 - died February 4, 2021) was an American soul singer who came to fame as lead singer with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. Saunders left the Blue Notes in the mid-90s and progressed to a solo career, not long before Melvin’s untimely death in 1997 at age 57.
