Germantown High became a grade 11-12 school after Martin Luther King High School, housing grades 9-10, opened on February 8, 1972. The school district used this arrangement since it intended to keep students in Northwest Philadelphia economically integrated.
3 de dic. de 2021 · Located in a suburban neighborhood in Philadelphia's northwest corner, the school provided Germantown youth with a first-rate education and the necessary credentials to secure a prosperous future. In 2013, almost a century later, William Hite, the city's superintendent, announced that Germantown High was one of thirty-seven schools slated for closure due to low academic achievement.

(GHSAA, INC) fosters and strengthens the relationship among the alumni and represents the one hundred and forty-six (146) graduation classes from 1917 to 2013. We preserve and promote Germantown High School's traditions, purposes, and keep alive the spirit of affection for our Alma Mater.
