Leben. Telly Savalas, Sohn der griechischen Einwanderer Nikolaos und Christina Savalas, brach sein Psychologiestudium ab und wurde – wie seine jüngeren Brüder George und Gus – Soldat im Zweiten Weltkrieg und später mit dem Purple Heart ausgezeichnet. Danach arbeitete er für ABC Radio, bei dem er schließlich die Talkshow Telly’s Coffee House produzierte.
