He was drafted into the Army in 1957 and served in Germany until 1960, when he rejoined the Dukays and signed to Vee-Jay Records. He has released fourteen albums and forty singles, and has worked with producer Carl Davis and song writer Curtis Mayfield. He has also served as a singer, producer, song writer, and composer.
