Gavin Bryars is an English composer and double bassist who has worked in jazz, free improvisation, minimalism, historicism, avant-garde, and experimental music. He is known for his pieces such as The Sinking of the Titanic, Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet, and Farewell to Philosophy. He has also written many operas, concertos, and vocal and choral music.
