When their car stalls, Arnold and Mabel, a middle-aged couple on a holiday in Tennessee, meet country singer Marty Robbins, who gives them tickets for the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Thinking they are attending the opera, the couple are shocked at the casual attire of the audience and by the music itself.
