Free Kitten is an American alternative rock band formed by Sonic Youth 's Kim Gordon and Pussy Galore 's Julia Cafritz. Originally performing as Kitten, they changed their name after receiving threats of legal action by a heavy metal singer performing under the same name.

Free Kitten. American noise/indie rock band initially formed by Sonic Youth 's Kim Gordon and Pussy Galore (2) 's Julie Cafritz in 1992, joined by Yoshimi from Boredoms (on drums) in 1993 and Pavement 's Mark Ibold on bass in 1994. The group stopped in 1997 but was reactivated in 2007, without Mark Ibold.
