He played for the Merrimack Valley Chiefs, Lowell Chiefs and Concord Eastern Olympics. He also coached South Boston High School and Bentley College. In 1941, Ron completed the U.S. Government-funded Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP) in Framingham. At that time, Framingham operated two airports and was the first town in Massachusetts to host CPTP.
