12 de abr. de 2024 · Those who are aging rapidly are at increased risk of adverse health outcomes and are said to be “frail.” Here, we explore the links between frailty and metabolism, including metabolic contributors and consequences of frailty.
The study concludes that frailty significantly increases the risk of CVD events and major adverse cardiovascular events in older adults without prior CVD. Screening for frailty could help identify those at higher risk and facilitate targeted preventive measures.

Our data demonstrates a strong association between frailty and 12-month mortality in this cohort. A malignant diagnosis is an independent predictor of 12-month mortality, irrespective of frailty status.

In reverse MR analysis, frailty is related to an increased risk of insomnia, napping during the day and sleep apnea syndrome. And it reduced the risk of sleep duration. There was no confirmed causal link between chronotype and frailty.

While risk factors for frailty have been gradually uncovered, the full identification of biochemical factors and co-morbidities influencing frailty remains incomplete.
