And then my copy of Fool's Assassin arrived, and I read it through in two days. There were so many references to events from Fool's Fate, situations that felt important to the story arc but which I didn't recall from the original reading, that I am absolutely committed to reading the remaining 600-plus pages, now that my copy has turned up again!

Fool's Fate is put simply some of Hobb's finest work. The climax of this book and its build up hit hard, and are masterfully done on all fronts. These are some of the most re-readable parts of fantasy I've encountered, and it makes the slow build so very worth it.
