He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Nadia Boulanger Composition Award of Fontainebleau Schools in 2011 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2017. Cetiz earned his doctorate from Columbia University in 2013 and is currently the assistant professor of composition and music theory at the University of Memphis, Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.
