When Steve Van Zandt took a break from The E Street Band in 1984, Bruce Springsteen called upon Nils as his touring replacement, the boost to his profile propelling his ’85 album Flip into the charts. This song, with its video showcasing Lofgren’s famed gymnastic and trampolining talents, gave him his only entry in the UK singles chart.
D'origine suédoise et italienne, Nils Lofgren naît le 21 juin 1951 à Chicago. Il commence sa carrière à l’âge de 17 ans au sein des groupes Crystal Mesh, The Shot, et Paul Dowell & The Dolphin. Il rejoint rapidement le groupe de Neil Young et joue notamment du piano et de la guitare sur l’album platine After the Gold Rush en 1970 .

Nils Hilmer Lofgren (* 21. Juni 1951 in Chicago, Illinois) ist ein US-amerikanischer Rockgitarrist, Sänger und Komponist. Auch seine Akrobatik bei der Bühnenshow machte ihn bekannt, in der er Gitarre spielte, während er Saltos auf dem Trampolin sprang. [1] [2] Neben der Gitarre beherrscht er außerdem Klavier, Pedal Steel Guitar und Akkordeon.
Nils Lofgren (born Nils Hilmer Lofgren in Chicago, Illinois, USA on 21 June 1951) is an American rock music recording artist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Along with his work as a solo artist, he has marked over 25 years as a member of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band as well as a former member of Crazy Horse and Grin.
