Audible. “Fingersmith” is the perfect metaphor for a story of two women asserting their agency through morally objectionable and marginalized crafts: Sue through theft, Maud through erotic literature (and Mrs Sucksby through a motherhood exchanged for money and repaid in death). The writing really could’ve been tauter though.
