Final Blackout is a dystopic science fiction novel by American writer L. Ron Hubbard. The novel is set in the future and follows a man known as "the Lieutenant" as he restores order to England after a world war.
Blackout begins with the remains of the Fourth Brigade of the British Expeditionary Force trying to outmaneuver a detachment of Russian soldiers. They're somewhere in France, but the officer in charge of the brigade, a charismatic thirtysomething man only known as "The Lieutenant" has had no word from his command in four years.
