Biography. McCracklin was born James David Walker Jr. on August 13, 1921. Sources differ as to whether he was born in Elaine, Arkansas or St. Louis, Missouri. Jimmy is in fine voice and shows his piano chops as he belts out Jump-Blues R&B and Soul numbers with his band. He is joined by Irma Thomas on a couple of tracks. It is estimated that Jimmy wrote almost a thousand songs, and he recorded over thirty albums. Jimmy lived in the Bay Area for decades and played the San Francisco Blues Festival in 2007.
