Eric Norman Thompson was born on 9 November 1929 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England, the son of Annie (née Jackson) and George Henry Thompson, a hotel waiter, [2] and grew up in Rudgwick, Sussex, attending Collyer's School, Horsham. He trained to be an actor at the Old Vic acting school in London and joined the Old Vic theatre company in 1952.
Early life. Erik Thomson was born c. 1967 in Inverness, Scotland, and his family emigrated to New Zealand when he was seven. He studied performing arts at the New Zealand Drama School in Wellington and English Literature and drama at Victoria University of Wellington.. Career. Thomson had a number of television roles in New Zealand, starting with Marlin Bay, a drama set in a casino and resort.

Thompson devoted his life to the study of Mayan culture and was able to extensively decipher early Mayan glyphs, determining that, contrary to prevailing belief, they contained historical as well as ritualistic and religious records.
