Eric Richard Porter (8 April 1928 – 15 May 1995) was an English actor of stage, film and television. Early life. Porter was born in Shepherd's Bush, London, to bus conductor Richard John Porter and Phoebe Elizabeth (née Spall).
Eric Porter (1928-1995) was a classical actor who starred in The Forsyte Saga, The Day of the Jackal and many other films and TV shows. He won a BAFTA award for his role in The Forsyte Saga and performed in several Shakespeare plays on stage and screen.
A highly respected Shakespearean for five decades until his death of colon cancer in 1995, classical actor Eric Porter's claim to international fame would, ironically, be outside of that realm, with one superb portrayal in one superb miniseries, The Forsyte Saga (1967), in which he won the BAFTA award.
