The inspiration was Encore School for Strings, founded in 1985 by David and Linda Cerone and associated with the Cleveland Institute of Music. The program ended after David Cerone retired from CIM in 2008. "I went to Encore in 2002, 2003, and a little bit of 2004," Belen told me over the phone in December.
