Storia Gli inizi. La Elton John Band si formò nel 1970 e inizialmente era un quartetto composto da Elton John al pianoforte e alla voce, Caleb Quaye alla chitarra, Dee Murray al basso, e Nigel Olsson, ed esordì discograficamente con l'album Tumbleweed Connection.Nel 1971 fece il suo ingresso nella band Davey Johnstone, che suonò nell'album Madman Across the Water.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1983, he continued to play and study music. John has studied with David Garibaldi, Robert Edwards and at the Dick Grove School of Music along with many other teachers around the globe. As a singer and drummer, John was featured with the band Windows and went from there to record and tour with Peter White.

In 1979 Matt attended North Texas State University, but two years later he left college to join Maynard Ferguson’s band and tour the world. Later moving to Los Angeles, Matt had the distinction of playing five sets a day in the Disneyland Band in Anaheim, a gig he describes as one of the best he ever had.
