Often called the "Godfather of Punk", he was named one of the 50 Great Voices by NPR.

The lyrics discuss the artificiality of rock music, political issues, drug use, sexuality and stardom.

Iggy and Bowie had been friends since 1971 when the pair met, a period of excess when we were all pretty bad but he was at least viable . Bowie would then invite him to travel along as a fly on the wall on the tour following the release of Station to Station.

Slecht is het nooit (al had ie die Franse coverplaat uit 2012 mogen skippen), briljant ook al decennia niet meer, maar wat geeft ‘t. Het is Iggy. De man die – 75 inmiddels – zijn cool en zijn reputatie wel nooit meer zal verliezen.
