Ehe im Schatten (en español: Matrimonio en las sombras) es una película dramática alemana dirigida por Kurt Maetzig y protagonizada por Paul Klinger, Ilse Steppat y Alfred Balthoff. Fue producida en la Alemania Oriental y estrenada por la Deutsche Film ( DEFA) en 1947.

Handlung. Hans Wieland, ein junger Schauspieler, heiratet seine jüdische Kollegin Elisabeth und lehnt es im Dritten Reich ab, sich von ihr scheiden zu lassen. Beide sind der Ansicht, es werde schon nicht so schlimm für sie werden. Hans steht Abend für Abend auf der Bühne, während seine Frau Berufsverbot hat.

He is threatened to be drafted and sent to the front while she will be deported to a concentration camp. Desperate, Hans decides that suicide is their only way out.

The story is based on the life of German actor Joachim Gottschalk, who was married to a Jewish actress and interestingly, director, Kurt Martzig, was the son of a 'mixed marriage' and this is the central theme of Marriage in the Shadows.
