Born Edward Harrington on January 10, 1935, in Macon, Mississippi, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater has become one of blues music's most enduring and original performers. As a child, Clearwater worked on the family farm and spent many hours listening to music ranging from country to gospel to the blues.

5 de jun. de 2018 · Eddy Clearwater, a Mississippi-born Chicago bluesman who billed himself as “The Chief” and often performed in a feathered headdress, died on Friday at his home in Skokie, Ill. He was 83.
Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater was the stage name of Edward Harrington, who had left Birmingham, Alabama, for Chicago in 1950, making his first recordings there in the mid-1950s for Atomic-H. Blues Revue said Eddy played “joyous rave-ups … he testifies with stunning soul fervor and powerful guitar.
