Ed Harris in The Rock is one of my favorite performances ever, regardless of genre. I’ve been fascinated by it since I was 12 in ‘96 and I’m still struck by it. Connery and Cage are fun as hell in the movie but they’re also clearly playing relatively comic, unserious characters, typical of the tone of a Michael Bay film.
Friend of mine worked at a Blockbuster in Malibu in the early nineties. Told us lots of stories of celebrities that would come in. He always said Ed Harris was one of his favorites, as the guy was a very down to Earth good guy, always nice and polite. It’s funny watching the scenes and seeing a very different version of that between takes.
19 de oct. de 2020 · The scene where Ed Harris is put in the helmet where he has to breathe the oxygenated liquid gave me so much anxiety. Actually thinking back a lot of this movie made me anxious. Just the thought of being in a submarine freaks me out, let alone being stranded on the ocean floor.
'Ed Harris' has publicly refused to speak about his experiences working on the film, saying "I'm not talking about The Abyss and I never will". The only register with Harris speaking about his experiences doing the movie is in the documentary Under Pressure: Making 'The Abyss' (1993).
