Earl Zebedee Hooker (January 15, 1930 – April 21, 1970) was a Chicago blues guitarist known for his slide guitar playing. Considered a "musician's musician", [2] he performed with blues artists such as Sonny Boy Williamson II , Junior Wells , and John Lee Hooker and fronted his own bands.

Earl Hooker was a blues guitarist and slide master from Chicago, a cousin of John Lee Hooker and a protege of Robert Nighthawk. He recorded for Sun Records, Chess Records and other labels, and influenced many other players. He died of tuberculosis in 1970.

He was part of the Chicago scene but also had a fondness for Country and Western and jazz. He experimented with slide and wah-wah techniques, and used them to produce dazzling melodic patterns. He was John Lee Hooker's first cousin and a road-rambler.
