Early life. Lynne was born in Erdington, Birmingham, [citation needed] to Nancy and Philip Lynne and grew up in Shard End, Birmingham, England, where he attended Alderlea Boys' Secondary School. As a native of Birmingham, he still has his Brummie accent. His father bought him his first guitar, an acoustic instrument, for £2. He was still playing it as of 2012.

Jeffrey "Jeff" Lynne, född 30 december 1947 i Birmingham, West Midlands, är en brittisk-amerikansk rockmusiker och producent. Lynne är en kommersiellt framgångsrik musiker och skivproducent. Han har medverkat och haft en framträdande roll i flera band som The Idle Race, The Move men framförallt Electric Light Orchestra (ELO).
