Dumbarton House Museum is open to the public for self-guided tours: Saturday and Sunday: 10 am to 3 pm. Admission to the museum is $5. Weekdays by appointment only
Dumbarton House School was a co-educational independent school located in Swansea in South Wales. The school opened in 1923 and closed in 1993. The buildings were demolished to make way for a new block of flats.
Dumbarton House offers a wide range of programming for children. Introducing youth to our nation’s past during hands-on programs at Dumbarton House, students “travel back in time” 200 years and explore early Washington, D.C., history. Find out more about our youth programs below!
Dumbarton House offers educational field trips for public school, private school, and homeschool students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Our field trips are tailored to meet the Common Core School Standards as well as DC and Virginia school standards.
Our Visitor Center explores more than two centuries of Dumbarton House History. Visitors walk through a timeline that details the building of the home, its past occupants, and its early twentieth century restoration by the NSCDA.
Experience early American history and culture at Dumbarton House. Self-guided tours are available Friday through Sunday. You can book reservations online or by phone, but advance tickets are not required. Walk-ups are welcome and we accept cash and all major credit cards.
