20 de abr. de 2022 · totally agree with you. all band's first albums may sound like a raw version of what the band have been in their prime period, (due to many factors like audio mixing quality, raw ideas etc.) , but they gives you the vibes you need to understand where the band started from. when dream and day unite is an absolute masterpiece that states for the first time the basic rules of dt's music ...

20 de feb. de 2023 · So, a few nights ago I saw Dream Theater live for the third time. The first time I saw them was in 2017, I think around April? It was at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, and it was the show that really got me into the band.
I would have loved it if Dream Theater had continued with that sort of style. They got close with BC&SL, but now quite there. I remember at the time people complained about DT getting “too heavy” and I think Mike Portnoy had to do with that. I always thought of Awake as being the 90s version of ToT since it is similarly heavy and dark.

I did some extra research by going to the TVTrops page for Dream Theater and checking which songs were recommended on the Awesome Music sub-page. That was a good place to start as it recommended songs that hadn't made it to Greatest Hit, such as Panic Attack.
After a long and eventful journey with Dream Theater, we announce the departure of Mike Mangini. Mangini's contributions have been integral to the band's progress, and we thank him for his dedication, the killer grooves he created, his patience with the disappointedly more toxic parts of the fanbase over the last 13 years.
5 de ago. de 2016 · Dream Theater is pretty straightforward stuff and they don't get too much into this cerebral sort of esoteric mythology the way TOOL does. And I like that about them. It's all kind of right there on the sleeve. Dream Theater's technicality is much more in your face and present.
