James Prudhomme wrote Remembrance while reflecting on themes of love and loss against the backdrop of the deep American south he calls home. "Remembrance deals with letting go," he explains.

Synched with meticulous 808 patterns so on point and elegant, Remembrance makes it easy to take for granted what a meticulous craftsman Prudhomme is. With this in mind, revisiting Japan yields new discoveries. Japan features reworked tracks from the original mixtape, an inventive redraft so as to avoid the ghosts of samples past and pastiche.
Remembrance was later released with Suicideyear's first mixtape Japan (2013) as part of the album Dream 727 (2015). Critical reception
Software Label re-issued Japan on vinyl and as a dual CD alongside Remembrance titled DREAM 727 in March 2015. The release included a cover of Britney Spears’ “Everytime.” A vocal version of his track "Scarr", featuring UK grime MC K9 was released following DREAM 727.
