Donna Jean Godchaux worked with Cher on the album 3614 Jackson Highway. The Grateful Dead. An American rock band, The Grateful Dead was born in 1965. Through the years, it had several vocalists. One of our favourite vocalists was Donna Jean Godchaux, who was with the band from 1972 to 1979. She was the band’s first female vocalist.
As the only woman officially billed with the Grateful Dead, Donna Jean Godchaux held her own on-stage with the rest of the boys. While not a founding member, nor was she with the band for too long, a female voice belting out "Dancin' in the Streets," or any Dead tune for that matter, was an oddity in itself after almost a decade of all-male singing.

There are many peaks throughout the Grateful Dead's performing history, but almost all Deadheads will agree that Donna was there for a lot of them.

Donna Jean Godchaux Band. At times, people would also call it Donna Jean Godchaux Band with Jeff Mattson. It was a new name following Donna Jean and The Tricksters and Kettle Joe’s Psychedelic Revue. One of their albums was Back Around, released in 2008. It took almost two years to build the album.
