After the demise of Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler took on writing scores for films. He returned to rock music with Golden Heart (Vertigo, 1996), which features lots of class but little originality. Darling Pretty and A Night In Summer Long Ago hark back to Fairport Convention's folk-rock, Imelda echoes Money for Nothing , Cannibals echoes Walk Of Life .
