Dio fue una banda de heavy metal fundada en Nueva York por el vocalista y compositor Ronnie James Dio en el año 1982. Ronnie James Dio (nacido como Ronald James Padavona; Portsmouth, 10 de julio de 1942 - Houston, 16 de mayo de 2010) fue un músico de heavy metal, también conocido por su trabajo en bandas como Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio y Heaven & Hell (reedición de Black Sabbath con él como cantante).
Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Dio left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice. The name Dio was chosen because it made sense from a commercial standpoint, [citation needed] as the name was already well known at that time.
