I Fabulous Thunderbirds sono un gruppo di blues rock statunitense, formatosi ad Austin in Texas nel 1974 e tuttora in attività anche se l'unico membro originale nell'attuale band è il cantante e armonicista Kim Wilson.Sono stati nominati al Grammy e vengono ricordati spesso per la loro celebre canzone Tuff Enuff, la quale ebbe un notevole successo a metà degli anni ottanta.
1979 nahm die Band ihr Debütalbum auf, das auf traditionell gespielte Art Rock ’n’ Roll, Countryrock und Rhythm & Blues vereinte. Während der Aufnahmen zu What’s the Word verließ Buck die Band, für ihn kam Fran Christina. 1981 erschien dann das Blues-Album Butt Rockin’. 1982 kam das von Nick Lowe produzierte Album T-Bird Rhythm auf den Markt, das ebenfalls einen starken Blues bot.

14 de feb. de 2009 · I've owned this CD since it was first released and it is a treasure-trove for Fabulous Thunderbirds fans. It is a mix of their first recording session with Doc pomus, demo recordings of songs which appeared on their fourth album, early sessions with Bob Sullivan, who produced their first two albums, and 'live' stuff recorded in Austin, Texas and on their first or second British tour.
For Fabulous Thunderbirds fanatics, or anyone longing for the raw gutbucket blues-rock of their early recordings, Different Tacos is something of a godsend. Essentially, the disc is a rarities collection, boasting nine outtakes from their first four studio albums, a couple of live cuts from various U.K. tours, and a nearly complete set from an Austin club gig in the late '70s.
