  5. Deryck Guyler, born at the outbreak of WW1 in 1914 at Liverpool in England, was the only child of Elsie and Samuel Guyler. He grew up in Liverpool and had his senior education at Liverpool College. On leaving school he tried his hand at a few things including working with his father in the family jewelers business 'Green & Guyler'.
