Dead Ringer is the second studio album by Meat Loaf, released on September 4, 1981. It is the second of four albums written entirely by Jim Steinman . [2] The album cover was designed by comic book artist and horror illustrator Bernie Wrightson .

While Hopkins had long been well known for his distinctive, melodic style on piano and Wurlitzer electric piano, the album provided a rare opportunity to hear him sing, unlike his earlier solo releases The Revolutionary Piano of Nicky Hopkins and Jamming with Edward!
